Karnes County tax assessor collector HB S Colvin, 48, died Sunday after a short illness. Funeral services at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church Kenedy with graveside rites at Kenedy Cemetery under Masonic auspices. Colvin, a 15 year tax official and Mobile Oil consignee, is survived by his wife Corene, two sons H S Colvin III and John Robert Colvin, his mother Mrs H S Colvin Sr, a sister Mrs John York, and three brothers Berry Colvin, Bill Colvin, and Jack Colvin.

Otto Maha of the Farmers Gin in Poth reported the first bale of cotton brought in on Wednesday July 10. It was the county’s first bale, grown by Richard Bienck on his Loma Vista Farm. Construction Begins On Nursing Home In Stockdale
Construction of a 30 bed nursing home started in Stockdale on Tuesday July 2. The modern brick building will have 6800 square feet, air conditioned and centrally heated. It will meet State specifications and qualify under the State Medical Vendor Program. Completion is planned for September 1, 1963. The facility will be owned and operated by Mr and Mrs B G Belcher.

Johnson Visits Floresville Friend in Hospital Surprise
