Holly Mills Wins Miss Texas USA Pageant
Holly Mills, 23, was crowned Miss Texas USA at the South Padre Island Convention Center on June 30 after winning the Miss San Antonio Pageant. She receives a new car, $10,000, and a mink coat, and will compete for Miss USA in February.

She has led in band and student council, plans Baylor Speech Pathology study, and hails from a long line of festival participants. The family farm roots date to 1899 at Ray's Dairy Farm and she will reign with King Reboog LIII Craig Gupton.

Floresville Plans Municipal Golf Course Referendum
Floresville City Council set a referendum for Saturday August 16 on a 1.9 million municipal golf course along the San Antonio River near River City Park. The project would create about eight jobs, with a 500000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to help bonds, and a contingency purchase contract with the property owner next to the park. The Floresville Golf Association funded a feasibility study showing strong local demand.
