The Alfred Roemers near Floresville reported a brief tornado or strong wind event Wednesday afternoon that damaged a shed and elm limbs but left the house, vehicles, and most equipment unharmed. Only minor roof lifting and scattered debris were noted with no injuries reported.
Sacred Heart Parish in Floresville hosts the Centennial Festival this Sunday July 11 with grounds opening at 1 am a noon family style barbecue to go meals extra booths opening at 2 pm a big auction at 3 pm and a dunking booth featuring Joe Fowler sportscaster from San Antonio Attendance prizes run hourly organizers invite all to attend and reconnect with friends.
Early Sunday morning Floresville officers found a 14 year old inside Super S Food Store after a large window and two glass doors were forced. The store had bottles broken and fruit and vegetables scattered. The juvenile was held until a guardian arrived to take him home.

Lori Rakowitz, daughter of Robert and Maria Rakowitz of Floresville, is named Miss Queen Tunep XXXVIII at the Floresville Peanut Festival coronation. She plans college in fashion design after senior year at Floresville High and is active in 4-H, FFA, colorguard, and livestock events.
Lillian May, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip May of Kenedy, was chosen as Most Athletic Camper at the June 2026 session of the Sons of Hermann Youth Summer Camp near Comfort. The 29th season camp, open since 1954 by the 79,000-member Hermann Sons society, runs 11 weekly sessions this year, six for girls and five for boys.
A defensive driving course will be held at Path City Hall on July 13 and 15. The eight hour program runs 6:30 to 10:30 with a charge to participate. Contact Path City Hall for registration and details.
A new fitness program titled Aerobics Plus will start soon focusing on different music to boost heart lung and mind health. The program features pulse monitored routines led by instructors and aims to be fun and easy even for non dancers. Look for more details in next week’s paper.
