Floresville City Council Minutes July 1 1971
Floresville city council met in regular session at 7 00 PM July 1 1971 with Mayor Traeger presiding. Aldermen Hoelscher Rodrigo Richardson Cordova Toscano City Manager Taylor and City Secretary Holstein attended. Minutes from June 3 12 and a telephone meeting June 15 16 were read and approved. Bids for 400 000 in bonds to Floresville Electric Light Power System were opened. Rauscher Pierce Co and First Southwest Co bid at an effective rate of 6 80138 percent and were accepted unanimously. An automated water system was approved for purchase. Power steering for the garbage truck was approved. Svoboda received consideration for sick leave due to surgery. Underground trash containers were proposed with revised rates effective July 1 1971. Mayor Pro Tem selection: Alderman Richardson elected by acclamation. Alderman Hoelscher withdrew. Toscano abstained.

Texas Farmers Union President To Attend Reception
Texas Farmers Union state President Jay Numan of Waco will attend a get acquainted reception on Thursday July 15 from 11 00 a m to 12 30 p m at the Community Building in Stockdale Texas. Accompanying him are Joe Rankin Ralls State Vice President David Samuelson Manor District Director and Kenneth Moss State Director of Organization. All farmers and ranchers in Wilson County are invited. New Farmers Union members will be honored and urged to attend.

Three Vehicle Crash In Floresville Injures One
Friday evening about 8 15 near Quintanilla Garage in Floresville a northbound car driven by Anita Alonzo collided from the rear with a 1966 Ford Pickup driven by Thomas Grier causing his vehicle to veer and strike a second car. Roscoe Riley Stoker of San Antonio drove the third car. Anita Alonzo and her mother Angelita suffered minor injuries and were treated and released. Grier was hospitalized and later moved to a Kerrville VA hospital in serious condition. medical and deputy investigators were on the scene.

Vehicle crashes through fence in Floresville incident
A 62 Volkswagen driven by Dale Curtis Murphy headed south on 181 in Floresville lost control Friday afternoon and went through a yard fence near the Chevrolet Garage. He was ticketed for failure to control speed. No injuries reported. Deputy Raymond Wright investigated.

Gas Well Explosion Injures 4 in Rockport
Four men were injured when a gas well at the mouth of St Charles Bay near Sea Gun Marina exploded shortly before midnight Friday. Jordon Maleck and AL Harmon of Robstown suffered burns and were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Corpus Christi. two others, AT Sossman and Delmar Calloway, were reportedly hospitalized in Aransas Pass. Firefighters contained the blaze by 12:45 am Saturday.
