Mrs Lucy Fredrick 67 died Tuesday at Robert B Green hospital San Antonio after being found near death Monday at her La Verne home. Autopsy ordered. Sheriff Asa Fuller reports blood near the back door and no gun found. Investigation ongoing with no further details available.
On Sunday afternoon July 4 at 4 25 p m three cars a 1965 Chevrolet driven by Richard Faulkner of Corpus Christi a 1959 Rambler driven by Rud Valdar of McCoy and a 1961 Austin Haley being pushed by two women stationed at Randolph Air Force Base collided near the Pleasanton San Antonio highways intersection in Floresville Patrolman Buford Lyon said the push was intended to keep the car off the road The Faulkner Chevrolet skidded and struck the left rear of the Valdar Rambler The push car sustained only minor scratches The women Anna Gabbard and Bridgett Krall left the scene The Faulkner car had a slight hand cut for which he was treated and released from Memorial Hospital next day All others were shaken but uninjured
The Texas A&I board approved a record budget of 5.10 million for 1965 66 with 3.58 million for educational projects and funds to build Sam Fore Jr Hall an early completion classroom and office building. The board also renamed six college division heads and dean of the college Rob ert D Rhode and approved enlarging Javelina stadium by 2500 seats. Sam Fore Jr 74 a Robstown Record publisher and former A&I director received the honors. Rhode will become vice president and maintain deanships for Ford Fechead Scedutician F H Dotterweich engineering J W Glock and John C Rayburn. William C English was named controller. The announcements came from James C Jernigan A&I president during the school 40th anniversary celebration.
Whitehall on F M Road 539 between Springs and La Vernia in Wilson County gains an Official Texas Historical Marker plate. Sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Linne of La Vernia the cast aluminum medallion honors Whitehall as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. This is the first such marker in Wilson County joining several other local historic sites.
Floresville city council met July 1 1965 at City Hall to canvass the June special mayoral election results. E A Fueller was elected mayor pro tem and sworn in after all 88 votes were cast for him. Mayor Flieller appointed council committees for health and sanitation water and sewer and other matters were addressed.
An All Star Game is scheduled for Saturday night at the Little League Field between the First Place Team and the Second Place Team.
Church stewards held their monthly meeting Tuesday evening July 6 in the recreation room. Hosts S. W. Seale and R. A. Wiseman Jr welcomed attendees. Pastor Mothersbaugh and 19 board members attended the chicken supper. W. W. Owen Jr was guest. Treasurer R. A. Wiseman Jr and other heads gave reports.
Floresville Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsors an ice cream supper in the church basement on Friday July 9 from 6 to 8 PM. Homemade ice cream and cake will be sold to raise funds for their activities and missions.
The San Antonio River Authority is reviewing a relocation of the Cibolo Dam for cost saving and flood control relief. Core borings show no subsurface defects, with a detailed analysis due soon. He is welcomed by brother Bryan sister Debbie grandparents Walter Schroeder of Black Hill and Mrs Rufus Tieken. Great grandparents Ella Boening and Otto Orth.
