Safety Belt Law Takes Effect September First 1985
Beginning September 1 1985 the use of safety belts becomes mandatory for front seat occupants in passenger cars and light trucks with capacity not over 1500 pounds including three quarter ton trucks. Offenses apply to anyone 15 or older riding unbelted in the front seat and to drivers allowing a four to fourteen year old to ride unbelted. Non residents are covered and fines run 25 to 50 dollars. Wear your belt and live.
