Propane Truck Crash Sparks Emergency Near Floresville
Local residents were moved to safety after a propane truck and auto collided on Highway 181 near Floresville. Jessie Beam of Floresville and James McKee of Kenedy were injured but released from Memorial Hospital. Fire units and law enforcement isolated the area as gas was shut off and wreckage cleared by Sunday noon.

Anita Lopez spent two weeks visiting her son Armando and his wife in Delano California, reuniting after 35 years. Armando arrived in San Antonio for the visit with his wife and daughter-in-law, Bobby Lopez. The group enjoyed the fair and other city sights before returning home by car, arriving in Delano Saturday morning.

Lions Elect International President at Dallas Convention
David A. Evans of Texas City was elected president of Lions International at the 51st annual convention in Dallas, where about 35,000 delegates from 106 foreign countries gathered. Lions International is the world’s largest service club with 867,000 members in 143 countries. The parade drew roughly 9,000 Lions, and Tokyo will host next year’s gathering. Gov. John Connally spoke at the Presentation of Flags ceremony.
