Ground Breakings Set for Veterans Homes in Floresville and Temple
Texas Veterans Land Board announced ground breaking ceremonies for two new long term care facilities for Texas veterans to be held July 6 in Floresville and Temple. Each home will house 150 veterans, include an Alzheimer's unit and a vocational rehabilitation center. Local officials and health care executives will attend to meet the construction team and tour the sites.

San Antonio Mission Park cancels July Rancho de las Cabras tour
National Park Service plans to cancel the July 4 tour of the Rancho de las Cabras ranch near Floresville due to extreme drought conditions. Safety concerns arise from dry grasses on unimproved roads and hot vehicle undercarriages. A ranger will host a talk at Floresville River Park on July 5 at 10:00 a.m. if conditions allow. Future tours depend on weather, with dates set for August 1, September 5, and October 3.

Floresville Man Fatally Injured In Accident
A 45 year old Floresville man died after a collision between a car and an SUV on Roosevelt Drive in South San Antonio. The car driver Jose Antonio Garzes 33 was in stable condition at BAMC. Two Floresville boys aged 6 and 5 were treated and released at Southeast Baptist Hospital. SUV driver Ruben Ortiz 50 and passengers were not injured. No charges filed pending investigation.

Police seek 38 year old J R Vaughan after he failed to appear for an assault hearing involving his wife's aunt Jean Barta. Vaughan was free on a seven thousand dollar bond for an earlier assault near his home. Barta and another woman described an incident where Vaughan grabbed her arm and jerked her causing her head to strike a vehicle.
