Farm Crisis Act Defeat Sparks Farmer Protest in Texas
In Waco on June 23 1982 Texas Farmers Union president Mike Moeller blasted the Reagan administration and Congress for failing to pass the Farm Crisis Act. The bill would have offered a national referendum to reduce production for higher prices, saving about 900 million dollars in storage and price support payments over four years. Moeller warned farmers face ongoing struggle without an alternative plan.
