W T Carpenter of The Stockdale Star reports intense preparations for the Stockdale March of Dimes. A big community hall dance is set for Saturday night January 30 with music and a social. Monday night February 1 features the March of Mothers at 7:00 p.m. Doorstep campaigns will visit every home, porch lights should be on at 7. Fire truck siren and church chimes will mark the start of activities.
The Sutherland Springs March of Dimes Committee hosts a Mexican Supper on Friday February 6 starting at 6 30 P M at the Community Hall. Plate is one dollar with real Mexican food homemade pie and coffee available.
Floresville live stock commission firm led a well attended sale with 332 head moved. Buyers from at least 10 southwest Texas towns attended as 112 cattle and 220 hogs sold. Prices ranged from calves 12 to 18.60 dollars and hogs up to 27.40, with cows and calves 81 to 9100 a pair.
The San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo plans a bus trip week of February 16. The Stock Show Boosters arrive in Floresville Friday afternoon February 5 and stay from 5:26 to 6:60 p.m. The SA Caravan, consisting of prominent businessmen and livestock officials, will park on the courthouse square. A brief musical program will precede an official invitation for Floresville and Wilson residents to attend the big Show and Rodeo.
