Cornelia Frazier announces candidacy for reelection as J P Precinct 3 Wilson County Democrat primary May 1. She has served since 1971 and pledges fair impartial duties with ongoing vote support. Pol Adv paid for by Cornelia Frazier.
District 4-H Food Show gathers about 120 youth aged 9 to 19 from 16 Coastal Bend counties. Contestants from Wilson County include Kathryn Jordan and others as judging starts at 9 30 a m in the auditorium with exhibits open at 1 p m and awards at 1 30 p m Senior winners in four categories advance to the State Food Show at Texas A&M University in June.
Floresville Lions Club members attended a weekly meeting last week to view a video tape of a handicapped Floresville Elementary School student. The seven year old uses a Handi-Voice device to express himself and is learning to use an electric typewriter. Mrs Paula Gardner presented the tape and explained the techniques while Program Chairman Lion Drozd introduced and helped with the presentation.
Tom Jean district director of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation will meet with producers on Thursday January 28 1982 at 7 30 p m at the Hermann Sons Hall in Poth. A short slide presentation will follow a Q and A session. Current risk insurance covers cotton corn grain sorghum and peanuts with disaster payments unlikely.
Sacred Heart School Floresville marks National Catholic School Week starting January 31 with the theme Good News in Education. An open house runs daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday February 1 through Friday February 5 as faculty and students invite the community to learn about the school's good news.
Parents may pre register their children at Sacred Heart School in the Principal's office at 1007 Trail Street during the week of January 1, 1982. Required documents include birth certificate baptismal certificate and immunization records. Families are urged to visit the school and meet future teachers to arrange a tour.
Sixteen Democratic candidates had filed by January 25 for Wilson County offices, the largest primary slate in years. Names listed include County Judge Jose Alejandro Estrada and County Clerk Richard Bolf, with races across district and precinct posts. New districting issues loom as the Department of Justice has not yet approved proposed changes, affecting Wilson County races.

The Marcelina Baptist Church will host a Sunday singing event marking the fifth Sunday service. church members invite local residents to attend and enjoy a community music program featuring spirited hymns and praise songs.
County youngsters will display food skills at the County Baked Food Show held with the County Youth Livestock Show. On Saturday January 30 entries compete in four categories with champions chosen in Cookies and Bars, Breads and Rolls, Pies, and Cakes. Champions Auction at 7:30 p.m. public invited.
Ed Laskowski of Stockdale was elected district 9 director of the Texas Farmers Union at the 1982 Fort Worth convention. He will join eight other family farmers on TFU's executive board as delegates urged Congress and the Reagan Administration to restore farm price supports to full parity, curb alien farmland purchases, and strengthen soil, water, and mineral rights protections.
Texas Farmers Union President Mike Moeller urged peanut producers to vote in the ASCS referendum on peanut poundage quotas. Balloting runs January 25 to 29. A positive vote would establish price supports of at least 550 dollars per ton with annual 6 percent adjustments. a negative vote ends price support and penalties.
The hospital reports a $1000 donation from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Olenick of Falls City to the Cardiac Monitor Fund, placing them above halfway to funding the full system. Other recent contributors include Ann Cooper, Joe Myers, and Mrs. Rudolf Guenther, with memorial gifts noted. Visitors are invited to view the new Cardiac Monitor and plaque at the hospital.
