Reverend L. D. Wood and son injured in Floresville crash
Floresville Baptist minister Reverend L D Wood and his son Ray 15 were badly bruised with broken ribs and knee injuries after a collision with a large truck at Highway 181 two miles south of Floresville Sunday morning about 745. They were taken to Floresville Hospital but both were later reported improving Ray was released Tuesday while Rev Wood remains under care. He is Texas Baptist Convention Spanish Missions coordinator and a former Chile missionary.

Sutherland Springs H D Club Raises 137.95 for March of Dimes
The Sutherland Springs Home Demonstration Club collected 137.95 in a house to house drive, the largest Wilson County community contribution to the March of Dimes. Members J M Bond John Sutherland B Hoke Alex Hall Co 7 Rivian Edgar Webb and E B Deason helped deliver the funds and the County Committee thanked the club and local citizens for their effort.

Lamberth Reports Best Peanut Yield in 21 Years
Lamberth, a Labatt community farmer near Floresville, says his 62 acres of late planted peanuts yielded over 30 bushels per acre, the best in 21 years. He credits cover crops sown last winter and timely rain for the strong season despite Wilson County’s overall short crop. He now grows oats and winter peas on the same ground and urges fellow farmers to adopt cover-crop practices.

Poth Fireman Dance at Hermann Sons Hall

Floresville Fire Dept. Answers 16 Alarms in 1952
Floresville volunteer firemen answered 16 alarms in 1952 plus 11 unalarmed fires. Fire losses inside city limits totaled 6075 dollars for 1951, with insured losses concentrated in four major house and bar fires and several auto wrecks. The department also fought eight grass fires, two automobile fires, and one country house fire without alarms.
