A nationwide celebration on January 30 supports the Fight Infantile Paralysis Campaign. Fifty percent of proceeds stay in the state and county for crippled children relief, while the remaining half funds the national effort for a cure or prevention. The main event is the President's Ball at 8:30 to midnight with Serenaders, tickets 60 cents.
Elizabeth Gerlich 80 died at her La Vernia home Tuesday. Services from the home Thursday morning then mass at Church of the Annunciation St Hedwig. Native of Poland she came to the United States 49 years ago and lived in La Vernia 88 years. Survived by four daughters and four sons with several living in Adkins St Hedwig Sabinal Jourdanton La Vernia. Rosary at home Wednesday evening. San Antonio Express report.
Poth hosted the Wilson County Girls Volleyball Tournament across multiple courts at the Hermann Sons Gym. A strong crowd saw Kosciusko claim top honors in multiple divisions as Metis Koscieolens won the high school title with Poth second and Floresville third, while Kosciusko also topped Ward Schools and Ehlers swept rural boys and girls divisions.

The Southwestern Peanut Growers Association sold and delivered 285 tons of stored warehouse peanuts to Alamo Cotton Oil Company of San Antonio from its Floresville bonded warehouse opened last year with U S Government help. Several large trucks moved the shipment over several days. about 700 tons remain stored.

T W Jordan a 74 year old Floresville resident and early East Texas attorney died at his home on Tuesday morning after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the family home with Rev. Jesse W Sewell of San Antonio officiating. The lengthy obituary notes his prominence in the region and his years as a pioneer lawyer.
