Multiple 1990s collisions on Griffith Street US 87 and US 181 near La Vernia Floresville. December 8 slips 1997 revealed rear end crash on Griffith Street in Poth with no injuries. January 9 incident on US 87 near Twin Oak Street led to charges of Fail to Pass on Right Safely against Hartel Walker. January 12 Morin rolls over near La Vernia with no injuries. January 13 Bayer slides on ice north of Floresville. EMS transported three.

Wilson County Livestock Show Opens This Week
Wilson County hosts the annual Junior Livestock Show and Baked Food Show at the Wilson County Showbarn on January 22 to 25. 521 entries from across Wilson County compete with judging starting January 23 and a Junior Livestock Auction Sale at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Upset taxpayers organize to challenge school board
On January 19 1997 a group of taxpayers formed Concerned Citizens for Better Government to contest Floresville School District decisions. They oppose tearing down the old high school at a cost of over 80000 for a later parking lot and plan to back candidates against incumbents from districts 1 4 and 7. John Brown was named treasurer by Carlos Espinosa. The group meets January 28 at 7 p.m. at Pizza Inn to recruit candidates for school county and city posts.
