Jody Gregory announces candidacy for re election to district clerk of Wilson County thanking supporters and asking continued support in the Democratic primary. Pol Adv paid for by Jody Gregory.
County Clerk Richard Bolf announces his candidacy for re election in Wilson County Texas urging citizens to vote in the May Democratic Primary. He cites years of experience and a capable staff and asks for continued support and confidence. Pol Adv paid for by Richard Bolf.
Judge B J Pope announces candidacy for re election as Justice of the Peace Precinct No 4 Wilson County praising service and asking for continued support. Paid political notice lists Bobbie J Pope.
Jerri P Joyal director of public relations announces Wilson Memorial Hospital will open a new Family Medical Care Service clinic for minor illnesses on January 27 1986. The walk in after hours clinic will diagnose and treat minor illnesses.
A man attempting a nighttime robbery outside Squeak's Grocery was deterred by his intended victims, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Perez, who used a mop handle and bottles to fend off the thief. The suspect dropped the money box and fled east on E Street as police searched the area. The Perezes recovered the stolen funds. Other brief items note a Jan 14 briefcase theft from Rev. John Murphy, rifle damage at Smith's Butane, a Jan 18 family disturbance and assault, a vehicle burglary, a stolen pistol, Wright's Cafe window breakage, and a police contact number for tips.
Deputy Nathan Urbanczyk found Max Marroquin 16 of Canada Verde stabbed twice and Robert Barrera 39 of Floresville shot in the back after a dance at Farmer's Place on FM 536. Both were transported to Downtown Baptist Memorial. Barrera faces surgery once swelling subsides, both listed in good condition. Police seek witnesses and urge calls to 393-2535.
The Spot, a Floresville drive-in across from Floresville High School, will reopen February 1 under Glen Reid. Reid, a local with family food service experience, plans breakfast tacos hamburgers fish corny dogs and more in a family run operation with 7am to 7pm hours and later for events. He aims to serve a wide range of customers including students and the community, painting the site bright red with a white spot. Also noted is Path I.S.D. Kindergarten registration January 27 to 31 for 1986-87. eligibility requires five by September 1 1986 birth certificates current shot records and nurse testing.
Floresville ISD announces kindergarten and first grade registration for the 1986 87 year in the Elementary School Principal's Office during January 27 31 1986. Parents should bring children eligible by age as of Sept 1 1986 and register during the afternoon window 11 30 a.m. to 3 30 p.m.
Wildcats girls soccer team completed their season at the State D Level playoffs in Georgetown January 18 and 19. The community sent off the team with balloons and support. on game day they beat the San Antonio Roadrunners 1 0 and then lost 3 0 to Corpus Christi Bluejays in a hard fought rematch. Coach Vickie Griffin Karan Knight Patti Key led the effort with standout play from Tracie Fuller Lara Key Lisa Dunaway Tina Shaw and Marlynda Lajas. Over 50 fans attended and Capital Area Youth Soccer Association hosted the event with solid refereeing and field conditions. A pre player scrimmage will air January 28 on Floresville Path Cable channel 4.
