Mattye Sue Flores Honored By Gov Richards
Mattye Sue Flores wife of I D Flores Jr received the Award of Certificate of Volunteer Recognition from Governor Ann Richards. A longtime hospital volunteer since 1960 she taught aerobics for 25 years at Memorial Hospital and helped establish church and school groups in Floresville. The Flores family remains active near Yndy Park Ranch in Canada Verde inviting others to volunteer at Floresville Memorial Hospital.

TAAS TEAMS Test Schedules For Out Of School Individuals
Out of school graduates needing diplomas are urged to pre register to retake TAAS or TEAMS tests. Packets must be mailed to Iowa City before February 10. Tests run March 8 9 10 starting 8 30 a m. Currently enrolled students need not register.

Two drivers injured in Hwy 181 collision near Floresville
On January 11 1994 Hubert Kosub driver of a 1984 Ford flat bed was rear ended by Andrew Stavinoha 1989 Ford pickup while southbound on Hwy 181 seven miles north of Floresville. Kosub transported hay into median. Stavinoha airlifted to B A M C San Antonio. Both crews assisted by Wilson County EMS. Stavinoha cited for speeding by DPS officer Haltom.

DPS Accident Reports In Cedar Creek Traffic Collision Details
DPS Officer Brian Vaughn issued citations for excessive speed and an unsafe turn after a January 8 1994 crash on Texas Hwy 123. Jimmy Reid's 1992 Ford pickup and stock trailer collided with James Miller's 1987 Mazda on the shoulder. No injuries reported. Reid and passenger Ryan Reid OK. A separate January 13 incident on Hwy 97 involved James Manning Strozier, intoxicated driver, with DWI charged.

Floresville Area Seeks Host Families for Foreign Teens
Floresville area volunteers sought to host visiting foreign high school students ages 15 to 18. The Borsa organization seeks families willing to provide homestays from a semester to a full academic year with students attending local high schools. Executive Director Doty coordinates the program.
