Wilson County expects to spend 1,999,514 for the 1982 83 fiscal year covering operating costs and essential services. Net tax income is 1,191,523 based on property valuation of 5,776,572 at 0.32 per 100. Delinquency allowance 15 percent and early payment discounts 20,989 reduce the base. The remaining 807,991 will be raised through other sources.
The examination shows a two million dollar county budget spread thin with Public Safety at 355 753 of which 305 032 funds the sheriff vehicle costs dispatchers clerks and related needs. Judicial and legal expenses total 194 399 bringing the sheriff total to 520 595. Fees and fines contribute about 273 000, roughly half. Courthouse upkeep includes utilities and 40 000 for partial restoration, scaled from 60 000, to be completed as funds allow. Property tax could add 37 235 revenue. other income from fees and fines remains a controllable source tied to court activity.

The Floresville Ministerial Alliance plans a community food pantry amid growing need. Churches will donate nonperishable foods, volunteers will sort and assist, and social service agencies may refer those in need. Donations accepted at participating churches. a family may receive aid up to three times a year.
M Murphy Apparel for Women opens a new ladies store in Stockdale on Main Street offering new and pre owned clothing with designer names making up ninety five percent at reduced prices. REVCO Discount Drug Center hosts a three day grand opening at Plaza Shopping Center on Highway 181 North January 20 21 and 22. The event features coupon specials prizes including a color TV and appliances, free hot dogs and cola, a senior citizen discount, and a new mothers plan. Pharmacists Alton Coney and Ronald Armer will be available to assist customers as the public is invited to register for prizes and explore merchandise.
Four teams visit Floresville for a round robin A Level playoffs of SAYSO action at the oe School Football Field and City Park Soccer Field. San Marcos Empire Boerne Prim os NW Sting and Portland Royals vie for top honors. The schedule runs January 22 23 with each squad playing three matches and points awarded for wins ties and losses.
A free public event on February 2, 1983 at the Holiday Inn Santa Rosa Durango site offers a College Admissions Conference, Financial Aid Seminar, and Financial Aid Clinic for Poth and La Vernia High School students and their agents. College reps from private colleges nationwide will discuss admissions and aid options and career fields for college bound students from 9:00 a.m. to unspecified end time.

Diocesan pastoral council meeting at St Josephs Parish Nixon Texas January 23 1983 at 2 30 p m promotes vocations parish deanery. Delegates to attend from each parish with one man one woman one youth requested.
The 79th Annual Texas Farmers Union Convention will run January 20-22 in Austin at the Austin Marriott. About 1,000 of the union's 9,000 member families are expected to attend. Scheduled speakers include National Farmers Union President George Stone, Texas Farmers Union President Mike Moeller, Agriculture Commissioner Jim Hightower, Land Commissioner Garry Mauro, State Treasurer Ann Richards, and Governor Mark White has been invited.
