Vernor E. Bippert reports that Wilson County 4 H and FFA Youth will exhibit 273 livestock poultry and dairy entries at the 1972 event. The show barn near Floresville hosts events January 28 29 with an auction January 29 at 7 30 pm. Floresville Livestock Commission sponsors eighty prize animals in sale order.
President Nixon proclaims National Jaycee Week and Floresville Jaycees express pride in belonging to the United States Jaycees. The Floresville chapter highlights service to the community through events like football banquets Miss Wilson County Pageant Labor Day rest stop Halloween carnival Christmas baskets and more with thanks to supporting merchants and members.
Two Floresville justices of the peace joined 118 JPs from 52 South Texas and Rio Grande Valley counties for a three day training session in College Station. Hosted by Texas A M University Engineering Extension Service with a Texas Criminal Justice Council grant, the program aims to upgrade JP understanding of current laws and responsibilities. Cornelia Frazier and David Coronado represented Floresville, with sessions led by guest instructors on criminal and civil law. The San Antonio class is set for April 19 to 21.

The second of a new 4-H television film series will air on WOAI Channel 4 Saturday January 22 at noon. Vernor E Rippert Wilson County Extension agent says the film features Sam a 4-H member and his friend Maurie. They ride in a lineman bucket inspect a transmission line then view power generation from a helicopter.
Wilson County prepares for the 1972 Junior Livestock Show January 28 and 29 at the new Show Barn near Floresville. 4-H boys and girls will exhibit 130 participants with 150 entries including 36 market steers 50 market barrows 19 market lambs 29 pens of broilers 3 dairy animals and 12 beef bulls and heifers. The program is supervised by the County Agricultural Agent and local 4-H leaders.
The Floresville Cemetery Association held its first 1972 meeting January 15 at Mrs. J. C. Merchant home with sixteen members. President Mrs. F. F. Woolsey Jr presided as minutes were approved and the treasurer reported a 1971 year balance and 1972 receipts totaling about $2038.32 with numerous donations and dues listed. officers for 1972 were elected by acclamation: President Mrs. E F Woolsey Jr Vice President Sam Fore Jr Treasurer Lallah Warren Secretary Clifford Ford. The next meeting is set for April 14 at Mrs. A. C. Eschenburg’s home.
The Floresville Peanut Feeti Association plans to start its 1972 year. Organizations interested in joining or supporting the group should contact the association for details and enrollment opportunities.
Wilson County, Texas proclaims January 17 23 1972 as 3 76 in 76 Week to promote agriculture The proclamation urges citizens to support the program designed by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service to boost farm income by 1 billion dollars by crop year 1976 and notes 610 million already achieved by 1971. County Judge D Richard Voges signs the notice.

Floresville Volunteer Fire Dept responded to a Sunday blaze at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Kalak in Marcelina. The home and all contents burned, with eight Kalak children at home and their visitors nearby. Cause of the fire undetermined at press time.
Path Justice of the Peace David Coronado attended a training program at the Sheraton Motor Inn in San Antonio from January 12 to 14. The course, run by the San Antonio Police Training Division, covered current law practice for constables and justices. Coronado needs only a few more hours to finish the course.
Marcelina Baptist Church plans a Lawman Day on Sunday the 23rd. Mn. Franklin will be the speaker. The event invites the community to attend and honor law enforcement.
