Merrill L. Connally of the Connally Hereford Ranch west of Floresville reports the sale and delivery of 20 registered Hereford yearling heifers to John Lyons a registered Hereford breeder of Durham North Carolina. This is the second sale to the Carolinas in 90 days conducted by long distance phone. Wayne Connally helped with delivery and was set to return home Wednesday. The ranch had previously made a hire sale to another South Carolina breeder.

Local Farmers Sign To Plant 178 Acres Cucumbers
Thirty five Wilson County farmers approved cucumber planting on 178 acres after a Tuesday meeting at the courthouse. Allen Franklin signed for 18 others. Mr Knox of the company outlined farming aid from seed to harvest and offered prices from 5 dollars down to 75 cents per hundredweight. Harvest labor will be available via Ted Cisnero’s crew, with 153 acres the largest contract total to date.

Louis Hardy Funeral Held in Floresville
Funeral services for Louis Henry Hardy age 66 were set at Murray Funeral Home in Floresville today with burial pending. Hardy died at Nix San Antonio Sabana January 16 at 3 20 p.m. after a brief illness and was a longtime resident of the Floresville area.
