Freddie W. Martin declares candidacy in the Democratic Primary. He thanks old Precinct Four voters and pledges fair service to all citizens. The notice lists his Wilson County address in Stockdale Texas and invites support on Tuesday March 10, 1992.
Floresville Little League calls for player registrations on January 29 and 31 and February 4 and 7 at Pizza Corral Wal-Mart and other sites. Parents must present a certified birth certificate for age verification. copies kept on file. No late registrations. Poth ISD residents may join. Tryouts set for March 7 and 14 at City Park. attendees must participate. Questions to Debbie Esparza or Vickie Mills.
The Texas Department of Transportation will convert two intersections in Fioresville on Business Loop 181 to all stop control. Third Street and ee Streets will become a four way stop with signals removed. C Street and 4th Street will gain stop signs. Additional improvements are planned to be completed in coming weeks.
The Floresville Volunteer Fire Department replaces aging fleet with a 1983 Ford F-700 four wheel drive brush truck built by volunteers. Officials say response times should cut roughly in half and funds were raised locally to purchase and assemble the new vehicle.
The report covers several 1992 incidents: a 1985 Chevy Blazer driven by Matthew Gunar Howell of La Vernia ran off Dry Hollow Road near Libsie Creek Bridge after a medical episode and was hospitalized in San Antonio. Sunny Dale Lane’s 1984 Toyota hit cattle on FM 1303 near Floresville with no injuries. A 1980 GMC pickup driven by Milton Vincik collided with a 1981 Ford pickup driven by Victor Koenig on FM 142 west of Floresville amid fog. A personal account notes a special bank account set up for Britt Calvert at Falls City National Bank to aid medical expenses.
Floresville honors mayor Roy G. Sanchez at a January 11 1992 testimonial dinner with 450 guests at Wilson County Show Barn. Bowed by Master of Ceremonies Raul Muniz colors invoked by VFW Post 8555. Proclamations from Governor's office and legislators honored Sanchez in a program of speakers.
The Athletic Booster Club will host its annual Spring Barbecue Dinner on Sunday February 2 at Floresville Middle School Cafeteria. Serving runs 11 30 a m to 1 00 p m with tickets at 4 00 per plate. Barbecued sausage with all trimmings listed for attendees.
The Floresville Knights of Columbus 6641 Free Throw Championship welcomes boys and girls aged 10 to 14 as of January 1 1992. Contest starts January 25 1992 at 10 am at the Ania School. Entry forms are available in the school office. For information call Baldemar Trevino Jr. or Waldo Martinez.
