Wilson County Junior Livestock and Baked Food Show Dates
The Wilson County Junior Livestock and Baked Food Show runs January 21–24 at the Wilson County Show Barn one mile east of Floresville on Highway 97. FFA and FHA members from Floresville, Poth, and Stockdale join 4 H youths in displaying swine, beef, lamb, goats, poultry and rabbits with an auction to fund next year’s projects. The Baked Food Show Auction is January 23 at 6 00 p m with champion and reserve champion sold, goods on public display January 23 from 2 30 p m to 3 30 p m.

Delinquent Court Fines to Roads in Wilson County Meet
Wilson County Commissioners held a long first 2004 session approving delinquent justice court fine collection contracts and a two year fee plan. They named contractors for upgrading Wood Valley Estates roads and discussed HB 2292 and Camino Real Center funding. An oil and gas lease near Kosciusko was approved in principle. Community Mental Health concerns were raised with Camino Real seeking 65 359 across nine counties. No Inter Local Agreement action was taken and road 128 infrastructure was discussed for River Bend.

Aldermen debated funding four vehicles from Southway Ford costing 81000 with a two two split if budget allows. The panel voted to table expansion of purchases and resume discussion January 22 with manager Pelech to confirm terms.

The Texas Historical Commission approves the Suttles Pottery for an Official Texas Historical Marker noting its La Vernia Wilson County operation from the 1870s to the early 1900s. Brothers George Washington and Isaac Suttles, Civil War veterans from White Cottage Ohio, ran the kiln now remembered through a community fundraising effort and a future dedication ceremony.
