Robert Bob Polasek announces candidacy in the Democratic Primary for County Commissioner Precinct II on March 10, 1998. A lifelong Wilson County resident he cites road maintenance and prudent county spending, notes drywall business and Army service, and asks for votes and support from local residents.
Prudential announces the Jason Talley Agency at 1419 Third St Suite 7 Floresville Texas. Jason B Talley leads the office serving Wilson County and nearby areas offering life car home and liability insurance IRAs long term care disability income health and business coverage. Talley previously owned his own agency and worked with Farm Bureau while active in local life underwriters chamber of commerce and Floresville Lions Club.
Three suspects are jailed in Atascosa Comal and Wilson counties after a burglary ring was busted on November 19. Authorities say loot was recovered from San Antonio pawnshops with more charges and similar break‑ins in Comal Guadalupe Wilson and Bexar counties expected. Investigators identify Terrell Mills Charles Talley Jr and Karen Goetz as the arrested trio with bonds set at 50 000 each and Mills facing parole revocation and weapon charges.
Floresville Head Start invites the public to an Open House on Thursday January 22 1998 at 1005th Street. The program has moved to new buildings and will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. It serves low income and disabled preschool children with education, health care, meals, and safe indoor and outdoor activities.
The Texas Department of Health begins its fourth annual canine rabies vaccine airdrop in South Texas using 1.5 million vaccine laced baits dropped from Ontario planes. Weather delayed the January 7 launch.
A country music benefit to aid Camp Discovery for children with cancer features Ricky Skaggs Kentucky Thunder Johnny Rodriguez and others at The Midnight Rodeo on January 18 from 4 PM to 2 AM. Wilson County hosts a combined stock and baked goods show January 21 to 24 featuring livestock exhibits, judged baking contests, and a public viewing day. Organizers include the county extension office and the Wilson Fair Association with local 4 H participants and vendors across multiple indoor venues.
Wilson Memorial Hospital and Wilson Memorial Home Health will establish Education Centers across Wilson County to educate the public on disease prevention and safety.
