Wilson County firefighters battled more than seven fires and scanned for others amid persistent drought. Officials warned the danger remains high with no rain in sight and some arson investigations under way. Fire destroys nearly new modular home on Mourning Cove
A Saturday fire at Mourning Cove destroyed a nearly new modular home. Neighbors reported the blaze around 11 a.m. Floresville fire fighters battled the flames for hours. The homeowner and two children were away. Red Cross aided the family. Edin Baker said the home is a total loss and the cause is under investigation unless ruled non-suspicious. Authorities noted prior electrical concerns but a licensed electrician later completed the work.
