The City of Floresville unveils a Crime Prevention Program with a Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch kickoff on Wednesday January 14 hosted by Buddy Lovestock of the Alamo Area Council of Governments. Two Business Watch sessions at 3 PM and 5 PM, and a Neighborhood Watch session at 6:30 PM, will be held at the Wilson County Library.
The 1987 Texas Inaugural Committee released a tentative list of events in Austin. Highlights include a Salute to the Texas Arts with the University of Texas Performing Arts Center, an Inaugural Prayer Service by invitation, a Sweat er Ceremony free to the public, a ticketed Capitol Grounds barbecue, a hour-long parade on South Congress, and three formal balls at regional hotels with ticketed admission.
The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and City of San Antonio sponsor a district event to address issues facing small business in Texas. The conference runs January 12 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Henry Gonzales Convention Center and covers formation and finance, element, regulations, and public policy planning.

The Community Council of South Central Texas announces USDA commodities for income eligible households. Applicants must complete forms and show identification and income proof such as food stamp ID pay stubs Medicaid or VA ID. Supplies are limited and issued first come first served at listed sites across Floresville Stockdale Saspamco Sutherland Springs.
The OCSCT Aging Program run by Community Council of South Central Texas serves Wilson County residents 60 plus with daily hot meals social activities and transportation. They seek funding for a new replacement van to support the aging program in Wilson County.
