The county notes a postponed bond election in Road District No 4 Wilson County originally set for January 23, covering Poth Three Oaks Ward and Kosciusko precincts. An error in field notes triggered a reordering of the election date which the county commissioners court will likely set at the next regular term.
Monday’s San Antonio Light Merchants from South Texas will attend the San Antonio Trade Season and Style Show February 1 to 6. Foremost merchants will speak on merchandising problems. Fred P Mann of Devil’s Lake will be profiled in The Nation’s Business. Mann’s store started with $125 borrowed from his father and grew into the lake region’s greatest store, admired nationwide.
Lone Star State Power Co plans to install a Worthington Full Diesel Oil Engine at Floresville central station, costing about 25000 dollars. The engine, weighing 117000 pounds, will be shipped from Buffalo and operational within six weeks, boosting electric lights for Floresville Stockdale and Path and enabling future service expansion to nearby towns.
A Des Moines agricultural conference gathered Iowa bankers farmers and leaders to tackle corn surplus and low prices. Proposals endorsed include exporting corn products via a farm products export corporation and creating fair pricing backed by tariff protections. Other ideas urge removing discriminatory corn sugar laws appointing a governor’s advisory Corn Belt panel within 30 days and forming a federal agriculture board to aid cooperative marketing. The program targets rapid action and a memo to President Coolidge Congress and cabinet members. Local figures Miss Enid Warren Guy Warren and Miss Lallah Warren were noted as guests of the Warren family.

Texas led all states in 1925 crop value at 799.33 million dollars, the Agriculture Department announced. The figure shows a sharp drop from 1924’s 907.22 million dollars, with the cotton shortage cited as a key factor. Iowa ranked second with 477.004 million.

W. Lehmberg, formerly Wilson County agent and now with Dunnels County, visited Floresville to purchase a car load of registered Jerseys. The shipment includes 9 cows 23 heifers and bulls from Ed Franklin R. B. Spruce and others, to be distributed around Winters and used for Boys Club work and local farmers. He reported strong county cooperation and renewed ties with Floresville friends.
County commissioners meet Monday in regular session and urge all claimants to sign and swear to county bills. The court recently ordered that all accounts against the county must be sworn and signed before approval.
