Richard Bolf has authorized this newspaper to announce his candidacy for re election to the office of County Clerk of Wilson County. A formal announcement will appear at a later date. Pol Adv paid for by Richard Bolf.
USDA sets 1978 peanut crop poundage quota at 1 680 000 tons while the legal minimum is 1 405 000 tons. The national acreage allotment for 1978 is 1 614 000 acres, meeting the minimum required by law.
The Flor esville Musical Club will meet January 10 with Mrs Kaye Connally as hostess. Program leader Mrs Tom Cames notes Mary Heickman of Somerset will present New Trends in Stitchery and fiber works will be on display.
William V. Foitik known as Bill retires after more than 35 years of service with the United States Postal Service. Born in Wharton 2 he made his final route and delivery on December 30 1977 having served under ten Postmasters.

Dallas Texas December 30 1977 Continental Telephone Company of Texas filed tariffs with the Texas Public Utility Commission to implement FCC rules allowing customer owned registered equipment on phone lines. A 50 cent monthly credit applies whether used as main or extension. Direct connections and registered gear allowed on one party residence and business service with FCC rules to protect service quality. Customers installing own equipment must use standard company jacks and bear installation maintenance and repair costs. if issues arise from customer gear the standard service rate applies.
A public survey will measure which recreational facilities Floresville residents want. The process runs Jan 9 to 11 with door to door efforts Jan 16 and group meetings Jan 5 at the old telephone building. Volunteers and phone numbers are listed for participation.
Lieberman's plans a Grand Opening at the Floresville site at the Stockdale turnoff near Highway 181 and 97. The 5800 square foot location will offer broader ranges in clothing fabrics domestics and shoes for the family. Bobby Pena will manage the new store with Joyce Pelech as assistant manager and Brenda Whitfield as head cashier.
