Judge Morris Wins District Runge Karnes County Vote Totals
Judge Morris was elected over Hon J F Ltge in the district covering Runge and Karnes counties. Morris won Wilson county by 1096 votes and carried Stockdale by 190 to 9. In Karnes county Murray led by 44 votes but Runge voters gave Morris strong support, 2297 to 53. Morris will travel to Austin to receive his certificate and be sworn in, expressing gratitude for the district’s congratulations.

Methodist Stewards and Wives Entertained at Floresville Church
The Floresville Methodist church official board and their wives held a joint meeting last Friday with Rev. Roy G. Rader and Hon. H. Mitchell and A. R. Davis hosting. A short program preceded a mutton barbecue in the Sunday School annex, followed by a business session. Attendees praised the gathering as one of the best meetings, with many expressing appreciation for the hosts and their wives.

On February 19 Austin the State Highway Commission granted two thirds aid to De Witt Wilson and Gonzales Counties for State Highway 81. The project will build a hard surfaced road from Port Lavaca to San Antonio and onward to the Gulf to Red River. Nixon committee members Campbell and McKean hailed the decision as vital for regional development. County bonds had been voted earlier and surveys completed. funds had delayed pledges from Commissioners Hubbard and Martin. County Judge Augustus McCloskey assisted the campaign and supported expedited construction.
