Floresville Lands 32 Acres For Recreation Park Upgrade
Interior approves a 323 550 dollar Land and Water Conservation Fund grant enabling Floresville to acquire 32 acres and build a recreation area on Route 97 near the San Antonio River. The plan includes swimming, picnic areas, sports fields, trails and facilities under HCRS guidance. The total recreation investment reaches 647 100 dollars with the state administering the fund through Texas Parks and Wildlife.

The Julius Lee Riley Sr family of Jourdanton and their pilot Ron Smith died Friday when their new four seat Piper Cub crashed near a mountain northwest of Hondo after departing Pearsall for Oklahoma City. CAP and sheriff’s teams searched amid heavy fog. bodies were recovered late Sunday.

Reynolds opens Floresville district office and ribbon cutting
Official opening ceremonies on February 14 1981 mark the district office for State Representative Jay H Reynolds in Floresville. New Chief of Pediatric Service Named at Southeast Baptist
Dr. Ron Stogryn is appointed Chief of Pediatric Service at Southeast Baptist Hospital and will serve on the Pediatric Audit Policy Committee. A Winnipeg native and Manitoba Medical School graduate of 1974, he specializes in family practice with pediatrics and is CPR certified. He and his family have resided in Floresville for a year and he is board eligible in pediatrics.
