Main Street Informational Meeting A Huge Success
Floresville and Wilson county residents gathered at the Wilson County Courthouse for a Texas Main Street Project information session. Speakers Mary Jo Filip of Seguin Sandra F Mauldin of Gonzales and Sharon Fisher of Shiner outlined program history goals and local applications while Floresville sponsorship and community leaders highlighted events to improve downtown including markets street dances and bed and breakfast ideas.

Floresville contest offers $25 and $15 prizes for hidden heart
The Floresville Chronicle-Journal launches a week long Valentine contest with two cash prizes of 25 and 15 dollars for finding a hidden candy heart in ads. Entry requires bringing the ad with the heart to the office by 11:00 a.m. Friday February 11. Only one entry per family. Local participating businesses include The Flower Basket JC's Super Burger Milton's Barber Shop and more.

Wilson County group fights Cibolo Reservoir plan
A rapid February 2 emergency Wilson County Commissioners Court session condemned the Cibolo Reservoir as harmful to the Carrizo Wilcox Aquifer and local resources. The Grassroots WCWAB, led by Gaylon Click, Diane Savage, and about 300 members, pursues petitions and youth signups to block the project and protect homes, heritage, and public health. The group targets state officials with 1500 adult and 200+ juvenile signatures plus hundreds of mail cards, while denouncing San Antonio water use and urging conservation.
