Junior Auction Sale a Big Success 1981
The 1981 Junior Livestock Auction Sale in Wilson County raised $98,410 with 121 prize winning projects sold to over sixty buyers and floor bidders. Steers averaged $1.25 per pound, hogs $3.00, lambs $4.05, and pens of five broilers $410 per pen. Special thanks to all buyers supporting county youth.

The First Karnes County Junior Steer Show held January 24 in Kenedy drew 125 locals. Seventeen 4-H and FFA youth exhibited twenty five market steers. Chairman Cal Daugherty opened the Wilson County Civil Preparedness meeting with guests Anne Farrell Civil Air Patrol and Lowell Thornton Red Cross outlining rescue blood transport and training roles. Robert Martin Civil Preparedness Director noted county planning for a spring disaster drill with a February 19 1981 meeting at 7 00 p m at the Wilson County Library with State Health official Jerry Lester assisting.
