The Floresville Chamber of Commerce congratulates all entrants in the 1987 Lighting Contest. Grand Champion Arthur Trevino Home at 1604 11th St wins, Reserve Champion Alfonso Flores Jr Home at 915 Fourth St, Champion Bush Home at 1508 Second St also honored with plaques and yard wood trees.
A 17 year old Floresville youth is jailed in Bexar County on a murder charge after a man, Jesus E. Quintero, 20, was stabbed in the heart during a confrontation as he tried to separate a woman and her boyfriend. Quintero died at the scene.
Cablevision of Floresville solicits donations in November and December to support the Wilson County Food Pantry. Office manager Say Mills notes food will aid needy families with distribution coordinated by Mrs. Sawers. Unclear OCR text references contact number 393-2269.

Knights of Columbus Council 6641 will host a first degree exemplification on Tuesday January 5 1988 at the KC Hall in Floresville. Event begins at 8 00 pm with all members urged to attend and bring new participants.
Damon Shadrock of Tower Lake 4 H placed first in District 14 4 H Food Show on December 12, scoring highest in nutrition knowhow menu analysis and recipe preparation. He advances to the 1988 4 H Food Show. June 6 and 7 he will prepare his prize winning dish and compete further.
