Seguin Man Named New County Tick Inspector

Cev W Coble of Seguin has been appointed the new county tick inspector for Wilson County replacing R B Meadows who is transferred to Bowie County with Texarkana headquarters. Meadows reports January 28. Coble, former Guadalupe County inspector, succeeds him. Meadows leaves many friends in Floresville after a noted tenure, praised for diligent work and a cooperative staff.

Floresville Bride and Wilson County Noted Stenographer Wed

The bride, a Floresville resident and Wilson County Abstract Co. stenographer for years, hails from a Karnes county family and plans to reside in Floresville. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs D F Bundrick of near Floresville, a respected young man reared in the community. The Chronicle Journal extends best wishes to the couple.

County Chamber Backs County Agent Petition Drive

The Atascosa County Chamber of Commerce met at Pleasanton City Hall with limited outside attendance due to rain damaged roads. Members debated circulating petitions across precincts asking County Commissioners to appoint a County Agent for Atascosa, aiming to improve farming conditions. next meeting set for January 9th, 1927.

Knox Family Gathered for Christmas Dinner in Floresville

Mr. L. B. Knox visited Floresville from San Antonio on business and enjoyed Christmas with his family. Mrs. Knox shared the news of their gathering, while their son Will Knox traveled from Austin to attend the meal.

Last Day to Pay 1927 Car Licenses in County

Today is the final day to pay 1927 car license fees without a penalty. A 2 percent penalty may be charged after today. Drivers must present a current certificate, engine number, and, if available, last year’s receipt when applying for the new license. About 1100 cars had been registered to date, and Collector G A Hill anticipated the last minute rush.

Mid-Term Recital at High School Auditorium

On December 16 at 7 30 p m Mrs W B Toone presented her class in Speech Arts at the High School auditorium. The program blended two parts with young pupils first then advanced pupils and featured Janie Marie Baker in Christmas and Baby Joy Keen winning ribbons for The New Bonnet. Keen sang Christmas Song and Silent Night and showed promise as a singer.

A Christmas program will be held at St John's Lutheran Church in Path next Sunday night January 2 at 7 pm. Everyone is invited to attend.

John F. Sheehy Elected Special District Judge

John F. Sheehy was elected special judge of the Forty fourth district court while Judge Giles P. Lester is absent. A prominent young Waco attorney, he belongs to the firm Boggess Trippe and Sheehy and is son of Wilson county’s respected family. He graduated from the Texas University law school in 1920 and has advanced rapidly in his profession.

Two Held On Murder Charges in Floresville

Jesus Ximenes, a well known young Mexican laborer, was shot and killed at the home of Juan Rodriguez in Floresville on Christmas Eve. Rodriguez was released on a $1,000 bond after an examining trial. Jose M. Farias, another young Mexican, was killed at a domino hall near the depot on Christmas night. Luis Guerrero was arrested and charged with murder. he was remanded to jail after an examining trial.

One Cent Postage On Cards Past House

Washington December 21. The House voted to restore 1-cent postage on private post cards as part of five postal rate bills. All measures, introduced by Postal Committee Chairman Griest, move to the Senate.
