The 1959 Census of Agriculture counted 1,284 farms in Wilson County with total land of 394,546 acres. Average farm size was 807.3 acres and average farm value 26,827 dollars. Farm operators numbered 258 with an average age of 52.3 years.
Floresville Chamber of Commerce staged its annual Community Christmas Party on the courthouse square on December 24 at 5 30 p m with hundreds of children and adults attending. Old Santa rode in on a fire truck and descended a ladder to greet the crowd while assisting the Floresville Volunteer Fire Department in handing out fruit bags to delighted children.
The Texas Highway Commission approves 21 400 for 1961 highway safety and improvements in Wilson County under two statewide programs totaling 40 million dollars. Projects include U S 181 shoulder widening and bridge work, with 260 5 miles in the district affected and supervision by Gene Koch Floresville.
Wilson county officials will be sworn in at the district courtroom in the courthouse on Monday morning January 2 1961 at 10 00 A M. The ceremony is open to the public and friends of the new officials.
