The South Texas Regional Blood Bank warns of a critical local blood shortage during the holidays. Bramlow, administrator, schedules a December 29 donor drive at Wilson Memorial Hospital from 2 to 8 pm, urging new and infrequent donors to help. He notes prior drives and the eight week donation limit.
Eight Wilson County 4-H members competed at the Coastal Bend District 14 Food Show in Kingsville with six blue ribbons. Senior and junior winners included Annette Dzink, Karen Orth, Lyn dra Kolodziej, Tammie Korzekwa, Lenette Kolodziej, and Shandra Pruski as alternate in Nutritious Snacks and Desserts. Red ribbons went to Beverly Hummel and Debra Palizza. The event drew over 100 contestants on Texas A&M University Kingsville campus.
A sprinkler burst at Stockdale Nursing Home on Christmas Day flooded one wing and caused ceiling debris to fall. Firefighters aided evacuation as residents sheltered while repairs began, with two rooms hardest hit and no injuries reported.
The First National Bank of Floresville will be closed Monday January 2 1984 in observance of New Years Day. This closing is mandatory.
The City of Floresville Electric Light and Power System announces a holiday observance on Monday January 2 1984 in line with annual year start practices.
Democratic precinct and county candidates may file for the General Primary ballot starting Saturday January 7 1984. Roy L Swift Wilson County Democratic chairman said forms are at Democratic headquarters 1035 C Street Floresville in the Talamantez Insurance Agency office. For forms contact 2077 or secretary Nancy Talamantez at 393-6994. Filing closes February 6.
Trinity University presents former President Gerald R. Ford on January 17 at 8 p.m. in Laurie Auditorium. The free public lecture, titled The President as Legislative Leader, begins the 1983 84 ec Lecture Series with seating on a first come basis.
