Oo for Band Attended By 100 Guests

A band event with about 100 guests featured a supper and informal dance at the building after the banquet. Floyd Connally acted as toastmistress and spoke with praise for SC while Invocant Rev. Fred gave the invocation. Long list of attendees included A C Merchant, Mrs. D. J. P T A, Miss Lane, Dr. E R Shedden, Sam Reno Frick, Fritz Nitsch of the Fire Department, Lions Club president J T Sheehy, and Teltschik who invited all band members and guests to the dance.

Carpenter Home After Discharge Celebrates Return

S/Sgt. C. T. Carpenter Jr. spends holidays in Floresville with his parents after discharge from the army. He served three years and two months, spent two years overseas with the First Army 294th Engineers, 7th Corps, saw England, Normandy, Belgium and Germany, earned the Purple Heart and ETO ribbon with five battle stars, and plans to rejoin A and I College Kingsville to finish his degree.

Jamie Bert Lane Weds Willis Melvin Payne in December ceremony

Jamie Bert Lane daughter of Mr and Mrs C Lane of this city married Willis Melvin Payne son of Mr and Mrs A O Payne at Church with Reverend officiating. The couple will reside in Corpus Christi after a reception attended by friends. Lane attended local schools and college in Seguin Baylor University in Waco. Payne completed Sutherland Springs High School and served 30 months in the armed forces in the South and Southwest Pacific.

Three Oaks Hall Farmer Meeting Rescheduled to Jan 2

The farmer meeting at Three Oaks Hall, postponed from December 17 due to bad weather, will now take place on Wednesday night January 2 at 7 30. If conditions remain poor the meeting will occur the following week. Pledges and capers matters of vital interest to all farmers will be taken up.

Theft Of Draft Cards Solved In Floresville Robbery

FBI and Selective Service officials arrested two men in Walsenburg Colorado in connection with the Floresville Texas draft board burglary of November 17. The thieves pried open the office door and stole 6575 classification cards 100 registration cards and 8 Kreg U S rifles from the Wilson County courthouse.

Christmas Wedding in Johnson City Texas

A Christmas wedding was held at the Methodist Church in Johnson City Texas on December 15 at 1 pm uniting B E Pennington Jr AFC 3/C USNR and Spar Geneva Grisham Sr/C Coast Guard. Chaplain R E Martin officiated. The bride, daughter of Mrs Re Re Grisham of Johnson City, served 18 months in the Coast Guard and was discharged September 18. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs E E Pennington Sr of Poth, served 18 months in the Southwest Pacific and recently attended the Provost Marshal's School. They plan to attend college in Los Angeles California after the holidays.

Edwin Johnson Reopens Service Station January 2

Edwin Johnson, longtime operator of Johnson's Sinclair Service Station in Floresville, will reopen his station east of the courthouse on the highway next Wednesday, January 2. He closed the business to enlist in the navy on April 25, 1944, trained at San Diego, and served on a Yard Mine Sweeper.

Community Christmas Program Largely Attended Saturday Night

The Floresville event drew several thousand people to the courthouse square for a Lions Club sponsored Christmas tree program. Floresville School Band led music, Old Santa arrived aboard a fire truck, carols were sung, and gifts were given to children.

Floresville welcomes home Captain Homer Burkett on terminal leave after arriving December 17 in New York. He served with the 822nd Bomb Group in the ETO, spent about two years overseas, and has served four years and ten months. He is welcomed by his parents Mr and Mrs H I Burkett and family.

Miss Blanche Connally Weds Donald Neil Kline In Church Wedding

The marriage of Miss Blanche Connally to Donald Neil Kline was held at Floresville Methodist Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday December 22. Rev. J W Black officiated. Guests came from San Antonio Columbus Ohio and Austin among others. The ceremony featured cathedral taps and floral decor with music by Richard Pryor and accompanists.
