Floresville appoints Juan Cedillo as city manager
The Floresville council named Juan Cedillo its new city manager after evaluating four qualified candidates. Cedillo, with a master in urban studies, a finance background, and grant writing experience, will begin January 15 with a $65,000 salary and possible moving allowance. He previously led Caprock Home Health Services' Corpus Christi area office and has worked with the Rio Grande Valley Empowerment Zone on multiple county projects.

Busted drug ring used Floresville home as hub
Twenty plus members of a cocaine distribution ring operated from a Floresville hub as the DEA wrapped up Operation Junkyard Dog. Investigators say the ring moved hundreds of kilos and laundered millions, with key figures including Sergio Javier Garza coordinating loads from Piedras Negras into Texas. Aged 81 woman Josefina Campos was among early arrests at the Eagle Pass border crossing.
