Martin Chilek Injured in Auto Train Mishap
Martin W. Chilek was injured in a December 13 auto train collision near the old county area. Cade listed in fair condition at Baptist Hospital with facial lacerations and possible chest injuries. Deputy Max Paiehl said Chilek's southbound auto was in 1st of three engines when the collision occurred at about 7:45, with Ward of 448 Winneway reporting the train traveled about 30 mph.

A 64 year old Floresville woman, Mrs Mamie Vanaman, died after a two car collision at Goliad Road and S W Military Drive in San Antonio. Injured was Mrs Emma Catherine LaPlante, 42, of Menton Minnesota, driver of the other car. Odell B Grizzard Jr., 45, of Austin, was treated at Santa Rosa Hospital for facial and scalp lacerations. Surviving family includes Homer J Vanaman, husband, and Mrs Catherine LaPlante of Menton. Funeral details pending.
