Itty Nee Elected To A A A Committees In Wilson County

Thirty nine Wilson County farm families were elected December 9 to three member community committees for the Agricultural Conservation Program. Names of chairs and members for each community are listed, with delegates chosen to Floresville county convention on December 13. Officials will take office January 1, 1948.

Floresville Honors Coach Starnes With 500 Dollar Banquet Gift

Fans at the Floresville annual football banquet presented Coach Ralph Starnes a 500 dollar appreciation check. Co Captain John D Carr and the Tiger squad also gave a 50 dollar shop made boots certificate from Central Boot Shop. The event at the Methodist Church included a turkey dinner for 75 guests, musical tributes, and praise for Starnes and the District 40 B champions.

Marcelina Home Demonstration Club Donations to Health Campaigns

The Marcelina Home Demonstration Club contributed to state health campaigns by sending 5.00 to tuberculosis and 65.00 to cancer funds. The club’s support is praised as a commendable local effort benefiting public health initiatives.

Bennett Dies in San Antonio at 84

Funeral services for Beauregard Bennett of Floresville, aged 84, who died Wednesday in a local hospital, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the ap Funeral Home. Interment follows. He was a former employee of San Antonio Public Service and is survived by four sons Gillis Bennett of Ojai California David Bennett and James Bennett of San Antonio and William Bennett, and a daughter Mrs J J Connaway of Floresville.

Christmas Party at Robert B Green Polio Ward

A Christmas party will be held in the Polio Ward of Robert B Green Hospital in San Antonio on Saturday December 21 at 1 30 p m. The ward children will present the program and A C Donaho of Floresville who has been in treatment for 19 months will sing White Christmas. The public is invited and the program will be broadcast on Radio Station KMAC from 1 30 to 2 00 p m.

Christmas Program At Marcelina Church Hears Caroling

A Manscélina Baptist Church Christmas program is set for Monday night December 22 at 7 30 p.m. The event includes a Christmas tree program and carol singing. Rev F B Williams of Floresville will deliver a short message. Attendees are asked to bring a gift for themselves not exceeding 25 cents to place on the tree and later distribute. The invitation extends to all.

Poth Turkey Dressing Plant Posts Record Christmas Shipments

Louis Kolodziej owner of Wilson County's only turkey dressing plant reports breaking all Christmas shipment records. Nine carloads of dressed turkeys worth about 100000 were sent to Swift & Company, plus unidentified truck and retail sales. The plant, modern and costly, reflects county pride and cooperative turkey growers.

P T A Christmas Program Lights Floresville Meeting

The Floresville P T A held its December meeting featuring Mrs May Glass fourth graders presenting the nativity in verse and song at 4 00 PM on December 11 The group praised new tennis courts funded by the P T A and agreed to donate 25 to the Tuberculosis Association and sponsor the annual football banquet Mrs Sewell Schultz spoke on Keynotes To World Peace.

Mr Arthur Fischer Dies In San Antonio

Mr Arthur Fischer born in Germany February 4 1864 came to the United States at 19 married Hen rietta Schwab September 3 1895. Survived by eight children twenty four grandchildren eleven great grandchildren. Burial December 12 at De wees Cemetery with Rev L H Owens officiating.

Mrs. G O Davis age 30 died at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio on Tuesday December 16 at 4 am. Her funeral was held Thursday at 2 pm at Murray Funeral Home and burial followed in Floresville Cemetery. She was formerly Miss Iva Lee Dennis of Saree.

Santa Claus to Distribute Gifts at Courthouse Event

Santa greets children at the courthouse on Wednesday December 24 at 6 PM with a plan to deliver gifts from the big red city fire truck on Christmas Eve. He will travel to Floresville with the reindeer and sleigh to distribute fruit bats and presents to every child in the community.

Insurance Man Honored For 25 Years With Firemen's Fund

E F Woolsey Jr Floresville business leader received a 25 year tribute from Firemen's Fund Insurance Company officials including telegrams from California Atlanta and Houston managers. The note praised his loyal service and the Floresville Fire Department community role follows with a Christmas Tree program coordination by the Floresville Chamber of Commerce to host a 6 pm event at the Wilson County courthouse steps featuring Fritz Teltschik band carols and Santa Claus on a fire truck inviting all residents.

Opening of Smiths Modern New Drug Store Flourishes

A large crowd attended Floresville opening ceremonies for Smiths Modern Drug Store. E. F. Smith redeveloped the former site after a fire, expanding space with modern fixtures, a fountain area, sleek displays, and a new prescription department. Floral tributes arrived from local businessmen.
