Floresville Art Program Supports All Children

Floresville Elementary and Intermediate Schools run an inclusive art program that helps every child develop eye hand coordination language skills and reading abilities. It uses simple tools like paint scissors paste and clay to provide tactile experiences and build vocabulary. The program aims to create well rounded individuals through art appreciation and expression while costing about 89 cents per child per year. Staff emphasize developing listening language and reading readiness through art concepts such as color shape line and texture. Come see Floresville students crafting Santas angels Christmas trees and other seasonal projects during the holiday season.

Santa Claus to Visit Poth on December 24

Santa Claus will make his annual appearance in Poth Texas arriving at 3 00 p m in the town plaza next to City Hall The event is sponsored by the Poth Chamber of Commerce and is expected to attract local children and families.

Floresville Christmas Events Bring Santa to Town

Floresville merchants keep shops open until 8:00 p.m. Thursday December 18 as Santa arrives by fire truck at 5 p.m. A tree lighting on the courthouse lawn follows at 6:30 p.m. with the Floresville High School Band and church choirs performing. Free turkeys drawn at 8:00 p.m. on the courthouse area. attendees must be present to win.

Santa Claus plans a visit at the Wilson County Memorial VFW Post 8555 Hall in Path on Sunday December 21. The event invites all children under 12 to arrive at 1 30 p m for festive activities and excitement.

Poth High to Host Three Day City Basketball Tournament

Poth High School will hold its first basketball tournament December 18 19 and 20 with seven neighboring schools including Floresville Nixon Falls City Kenedy Tilden Lavemia Pawnee and Poth. Both Boys and Girls Varsity teams will compete. Concession duties handled by the Junior Class. Thursday games include Nixon vs Falls City and Floresville vs Poth among others with a full schedule for both girls and boys. Friday features consolation games and Girls finals at 6 p.m. Saturday caps with Boys finals at 8 p.m. Come out and support your team.

County Agents Office Moved to Court House Basement

The County Extension Office relocates to a basement at the courthouse to gain storage space and better accommodate visitors and agents. Vernor E. Rippert notes the move serves county farmers 4 H members leaders and parents as the office updates its facilities.

Texas farmer wins Progressive Farmer sweepstakes prize

H C Fowler of Snyder Texas, a small cotton and cow farmer, won Progressive Farmer Magazine's 1975 sweepstakes and received a $15,000 check. He noted the award arrived timely as boll weevil damage hit local cotton crops, while he was renovating an old house near the Fowler farm. The article mentions only a portion of the check.

Aliens to report addresses in San Antonio area

Immigration officials estimate about 120000 aliens will file addresses in the San Antonio area during January under the Federal Alien Address Report Program. Non citizens must file unless in diplomatic status or for eign representatives of certain organizations. Willful violations may incur penalties. Aliens outside the United States in January must report within 10 days after reentry.
