Gifts Free Of Duty Policy Expands Duty Free Gifts
By authority of a bill signed by President Roosevelt on December 5, the United States armed forces abroad may send gifts or souvenirs valued up to fifty dollars duty free. The regulation does not change rules for packages sent to service members overseas. Gifts are sent duty free to the soldier through the Army post office, ship address, or Navy number, and to the marine through his unit address.

Non quota meat slaughterers exempt from registration
Dallas, Texas. Dec 14. Regional OPA officials stated that non quota meat slaughterers who kill under 500000 pounds per quarter are not required to register, though all slaughterers are covered by the restriction order. Non quota slaughterers include retail butchers and farmers who slaughter and deliver. only exacted meats are from cattle calves sheep lamb and pork.

John T. Mitchell Buried In Floresville Thursday
John T. Mitchell a Karnes City druggist for 30 years died at the Henson home in Floresville on December 16 1942 his 73rd birthday. Funeral services were held at the Karnes City Methodist church and burial followed in Floresville cemetery with Masons assisting. Surviving are his son Franklin Mitchell sister Zoe Darby and brother Eugene Mitchell.

Mrs Elisa Hierholzer Funeral Here Thursday
Funeral services for Elisa M Hierholzer were held Thursday at 3 15 p m at Floresville Methodist Church with Rev A M Foster and Rev J W Black officiating. Burial followed in Floresville cemetery beside her husband. Surviving are eight children, twenty one grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister. long time residents of Wilson and surrounding counties remember her 50 years of faithful church service.

Savoy Sells 600 Turkeys for 2970 Dollars in Floresville
The largest turkey sale of the season in Floresville occurred Tuesday when E. L. Savoy, a resident on the old San Antonio highway, sold over 600 birds to Moeller Poultry House. The lot weighed about 9,000 pounds and fetched $2970. The Wilson county turkey crop is reported to be excellent this fall, with strong prices and good returns for growers.
