A special Christmas program will be held Tuesday night at the Floresville high school auditorium at 7 30. P Conn directs for the athletic fund with students faculty members and the P T A assisting. Admission is 10 and 25 cents with about an hour of entertainment featuring unusual Christmas acts.

Judge W W Murray granted a motion for a new trial in the Estévan Ximenes murder case in Wilson County. Ximenes, tried before a jury about two weeks ago, received a 20 year sentence. attorneys argued for a new trial at Saturday’s hearing.

Robertson county attorney to test cotton acreage law

T IL Tyson of Robertson county said he will file suit to test the constitutionality of the Texas cotton acreage restriction law passed in the special session. He plans an injunction and immediate action after the law takes effect January 1 1932. Several hundred Robertson county cotton growers have formed a group to challenge the act, which limits planting 46 cotton in 1952 to no more than 30 percent of crop area in 1931. Tyson emphasized the need for an early court decision with state agriculture commissioner J E McDonald and other sponsors ready to present views.

Farmers Night Draws Large Crowd in Weathered Meeting

At Tuesday Farmers Night held by the Peth Chamber of Commerce about 150 farmers attended despite bad weather. Ww. H. Woellert, newly elected president, presided as a program featured two farming topics. Mr Blanchard of the Texas Certified Cotton Breeders Association spoke on seed standardization and planting high-grade, uniform seed. tamales and coffee were served and all enjoyed the event.

Poth Hunters Bring Home Bucks From New Braunfels Area

Poth residents Poth Hunters Alex Klaus and friends stopped by the Chronicle Journal office Wednesday with a fine deer. One hunter carried a 10 point buck back from hills near New Braunfels after a several days hunt. Mrs Victor Warnken of Poth reportedly took a large 10 point buck nearby last rear end.

Floresville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 38 earns national recognition as one of the first Texas units enrolled for 1932 membership, surpassing 1931 totals. The citation credits secretary Tallah Warren for timely submission, noting the honor is shared with only 11 Texas units and the sole recipient in the 14th District.

Kenedy Fire Destroys Holston Chevrolet Building

In Kenedy Texas on Monday night a blaze wiped out the Holston Chevrolet Company's showroom and garage, also damaging the J S Graham garage and Heinsohn Kohlmanin Dodge Plymouth dealers. Total loss expected with 31 autos burned and two more cars lost. damage estimated around 25000 dollars, largely insured.

Sinclair Service Station Opens on Highway in Floresville

A new Sinclair service station at the corner of 4th and D Streets opened this week, managed by Edwin Johnson, a Floresville native and Floresville High School graduate who has worked in filling stations including the Floresville Quick Service Station. The facility is modern and well located on the highway near the courthouse. An advertisement for the station appears elsewhere in the paper.

Adu Farias reports a Sunday night fire damaged the house and its contents near the rest area on O Matray street in 1 Ville. Quick action by responders limited further damage and prevented injuries.
