Bec ville League of Church Women sponsors a community Nativity Scene and singing in Courthouse Square. Invitations go to in town choirs for Christmas Eve at 5 30 p m with Floresville High School Band directed by Fritz Teltschik. Churches will ring bells at 6 00 p m sharp and the Community Christmas Tree program will follow. Second year of the project with hopes for annual continuation.
Floresville Lions and local merchants offer an $80 prize drawing this Saturday at 5 PM at the former Ballard Drug Store building. Free tickets available 2 PM to 4 PM with no purchases required. Santa will greet children and a Christmas tree event with local prizes and community carols follows on Friday 24 December.
The Floresville Chamber of Commerce invites all residents to the Christmas Eve celebration on December 24 1954. The event features Santa Claus arriving by fire truck, a band concert and carols at 6 PM, plus 1 000 fruit bags for children in front of the Wilson County courthouse. The ceremony honors a 20 year old community tradition.
Chairman Woolsey receives award plaque for county performance in U S Savings Bond drive. Nilson County banks sold a large share of Series E and H bonds, reaching $178,569 for the period and earning praise from a Treasury representative. Woolsey, county chair since WWII, credits bankers and the public for the strong showing and urges safe, lasting Christmas gifts via Savings Bonds.
About 800 attendees gathered at Var Hall La Villita for a banquet in honor of State Commissioner of Agriculture John C. White as Democratic clubs from San Antonio and Bexar County heard a keynote speech. Wilson County attendees included John E. Wheeler and Mack Spear with several local Democrats and couples from Floresville.
POTH PIRATE BAND presents a Christmas concert on December 23, 1954 directed by Paul Ed. Rawlings. The program includes Mack Parker Gillette Band Arrangement Merrick Rogers and Hammerstein Gods Overture with intermission featuring a fantasy based on Christmas carols arranged by an unidentified arranger.

Sacks-Meyers in Saspamco Field set casing for a 3,100 foot test. Tobin No 1 H B Rebbit Tosh wildcat at 1,541 feet near Imogene. Beard and Shefts No 2 Johnson flowing in tanks at 8,562 feet open hole in Atascosa County.
Jourdanton High School hosted its First Annual Boy and Girl Invitational basketball tournament. In the boys bracket Poth defeated Floresville 65 to 39 for first place while Steale beat Sabinal for consolation. In girls, Floresville edged George West 56 to 65 for first with Jourdanton taking consolation over Charlotte. Reininger Bednarz and Matthews starred on defense.
Friedrich Sister Lodge No 86 and Lodge No 180 plan a joint December meeting to merge into a mixed lodge. Ceremonies led by Grand Lodge staff will transfer charter and regalia to new officers H C Sehrau b Jr and Herbert Hild. Delegates will be elected for the Grand Lodge Convention in Galveston in April 1955.
The Lions Club held their Thursday noon meeting at Wright's with almost perfect attendance, marking a strong turnout for the weekly luncheon activity.
Santa Claus visits Poth Town Square on Christmas Eve Friday December 24 at 4 PM. The Poth Volunteer Fire Department escorts him to the main plaza where hundreds of children will greet him. Path: School Band directed by Paul Rawlings plays a short concert, then Old Saint Nick distributes fruit and candy to every child. free for all. Local families and surrounding community are warmly invited to attend.
Work progresses on an 18 by 56 foot educational building for the Floresville Church of Christ, located 20 feet behind the main church. The wooden structure will include three classrooms and a combined kitchen area, with folding partitions and a possible single large assembly room, costing about $6,000. Ef Bee Greif of Floresville is related to the project, with Nunn serving as minister for 40 years.

The Woman's Society of Christian Service at the Methodist Church presented a Christmas program on Monday afternoon with the theme The Prince of Peace. Mrs Zane Lawhyn led the event and Mrs Harry Woolsey read from Luke as a Nativity scene was enacted on a dimly lit stage. Members including Mesdames Wootton Johnson Youngblood Reed Kenzie Spruce and Schmaletlag shared duties while a junior and intermediate choir sang carols. A tea followed with hot punch and sandwiches, and a love offering was taken for El Mesias Church.
Mr arid Mrs Fe ime Lawdon Mr and Mrs Din Las Burris Mr and Mrs A C Eschenburg Sam Fore Jr attended the Bluebonnet District Boy Scouts meeting held in the new $500 000 Jourdanton school building. 78 people attended as Dwig it Tuttle of Poteet was installed as district president succeeding Zane Lawden. Capt EP Matheny of the San Antonio Detective Porce Juvenile delinquency division spoke on youth crime.
The Floresville High School gym hosts a band concert under Superintendent Frite Teltscchik Carter Wootten. Invocations by Rev. Albert R. Peters precede performances of El Capitan and Argentina Overture, El Caballero Spanish March, and other selections conducted by Fred K. Hel.
