Wilson County Educational Association Holds Quarterly Meeting

Wilson County teachers gathered in LaVernia for a quarterly meeting with Opal Goodwin presiding. The program featured a banquet in the Home Making Department, music by the LaVernia quintet, readings by Evelyn Merchant, and a speech by Mr Pat Norwood. Next meeting set for Floresville on Thursday evening, 17, 1988.

City Council Bans Fireworks in Floresville District

The State Insurance Department order prohibits shooting fireworks rockets firecrackers or noise makers within Floresville city blocks around the courthouse square during Christmas and New Year. The ban aims to prevent fires and protect residents. City Council directs enforcement.

Funeral of Mrs Geo Boening Jr

Funeral for Mrs. George Boening Jr aged 83 died Thursday at Oxford and Archer Hospital. Services at Murray Funeral Home this afternoon at 2 00 then at First Lutheran Church at 2 20 conducted by Rev Theo Winter. Interment Floresville Cemetery. Survived by husband and four children and many relatives. Obituary to follow next week.

Fine Radio Program By Local 4 H and Home Club Girls

Wehmann Home Demonstration Club and Path 4-H Club members presented a KTSA program at 6:80 last Saturday morning boosting Wilson County. Participants included Miss Fannie Sue Brasuel Miss Frances Spruce Mil dred Isabel and Max Orts Mrs C B Deaver and Mrs R E Spruce. The group performed a skit Getting Ready For Christmas highlighting homemade gift ideas. The Chronicle Journal praised the presentation and urged all county citizens to hear it.

Mrs Louis Miller's Mother Dies in San Antonio

Mrs Zannie Matusoff mother of Mrs Louis Miller of Floresville died Thursday December 9 1937 at Nix Hospital San Antonio after a heart attack at home. Funeral services were held Friday at Akers Funeral Home Rabbi Tamarkin officiating. Interment Agudas Achim Cemetery San Antonio. Survived by four sons Joe Jin Louis Matusoff all of San Antonio and Sol.

Christmas Cheer Fund urged by Floresville Chronicle Journal and CCC Camp

CCC Camp collects toys at headquarters and families are listed by ward volunteers for a Santa visit on Christmas Eve. Cash gifts aid fruit, candy, and groceries with no door-to-door collectors.

High School Christmas Concert Presented by Band

The high school auditorium hosts a Christmas Concert on December 21 at 7 15 p m with an admission of 20c for adults and 10c for students. Proceeds fund seats for the band practice hall. The program features marches, waltzes, choral and instrumental pieces with named performers and ensembles.

Floresville F F A Members Attend Runge Poultry Show

Floresville F F A members and adviser attended the eleventh annual Runge poultry show and judging contest last Friday December 10. The Runge chapter and Lloyd Luker the vocational agriculture teacher hosted a top event with thirteen schools and over one hundred boys participating. Area supervisors Parker and Shackelford attended. The Floresville group plans more poultry projects and to form part of the area poultry judging team with William Warren Allen Gilley Willard Pooley Clarence Gillig and Billie Miculka among those competing. Thieves Strip Cars In Front Of Church

Thieves removed deluxe steering wheels from two 1937 Chevrolet cars owned by E F Woolsey Jr and Sam Fore Jr while owners attended services at a Methodist church. The cars were near a street light and a church light, with hammering heard but mistaken for tire repair. A nearby garage dial was stolen from Wm Foitik. No trace found.
