The Wilson County Unit of the American Cancer Society Texas Division met December 12 at Wright's Cafe for a general meeting and officer installation. Frank R. The Farmers Gin Company at Poth had ginned 1490 bales of cotton by Wednesday morning, with about 15 bales left to process once weather allows. Some bales remain in fields, and activity could continue through the holidays. Wilson County had only one gin in operation in 1959 60, a first in 60 years. Previously up to 14 gins operated in the county at one time.

Ferdinand Reininger aged 87 years died December 12 1960 at Lakewood Rest Home Kenedy Texas. He lived 59 years as a farmer in Path and Dewees communities. Body lay in state at Stapp Funeral Home Poth until 2 pm Wednesday rites were held, burial at Dewees Cemetery. An obituary will appear in next Friday Chronicle Journal.
