Floresville Chapter No 20 Order of the Eastern Star held a monthly social at Magonic hall featuring Mrs Mary Lou Mayes and officers. Visitors included Mrs Mabel Eldridge and Mr T A Eldridge of San Antonio, Mrs Mattie Mitchell, Mrs Eula Wheeler, and Mrs Henry Lorenz from Stockdale. Christmas program, gifts, music, and a chicken salad plate followed the business portion.

Wilson County Poultrymen Spend Profitable Day in San Antonio

Wilson County poultrymen led by County Agent B D Beck spent a profitable day in San Antonio touring the South Texas Egg Laying Contest on Pleasanton Road and inspecting pens and scoring systems. They then visited several well known Bexar county poultry farms, with attendees calling the day enjoyable and productive.

Floresville Chamber of Commerce hears J Clopton outline plan to organize a local company and market 1000 acres of fertile land west of the city near the county line. Lindbergh Arrival Delights Mexico City Citizens

Lindbergh piloting the Spirit of St. Louis completed a non stop flight from Washington to Mexico City. After hours of anxiety a 330 o clock landing at the Valbuena military field brought joyous relief as the Lone Eagle and his aircraft were declared safe. The crowd proclaimed the feat a remarkable demonstration of admiration for the famed aviator.

One Turkey Raiser Gets 24500 Check

Cuero Texas December 13 A check for 24500 was issued by the Cuero Packing Company to a DeWitt County turkey raiser. Payment covers turkeys marketed at the plant during the 1927 season. The 1927 turkey and poultry crop will net DeWitt County producers about 1.5 million according to Commerce officials. The season was strong with careful marketing boosting growers profits as packing plants operate through January 1 and possibly beyond.

Haskell Man Spends Days With Daughter in Visit

W H Russell of Haskell has been spending several days past with his daughter Mrs Geo White in the vicinity. The visit includes family moments and shared time at their residence as local observers note the reunion.

Ex service men who have not yet applied for the adjusted compensation bonus should do so before December 1 1927. If you served more than sixty days in the U S Army Navy or Marine Corps between April 6 1917 and November 11 1918 you are entitled to cash or paid up insurance according to service length. Floresville Musical Club Christmas Program Next Tuesday

The Floresville Musical Club will hold its regular meeting next Tuesday afternoon December 20 at 2 36 at Floresville High School Auditorium. A Christmas play and skit will be presented by the junior members followed by a Treasure Hunt and further entertainment at the home of Mrs J D Houston for guests.

Mrs Hugh Rogers Dead in Floresville Obituary

Mrs Hugh Rogers aged 83 pioneer settler of Wilson county died Sunday night at the Rogers ranch eight miles east of Floresville after a stroke. Funeral at Floresville Catholic Cemetery with Rev Father P P Zarb officiating. She leaves several children and many relatives as the community mourns this good lady. An obituary will appear next week.

Home Talent Play Tonight Promises Big Success

The musical comedy The Flapper Grandmother will be staged at 7 30 PM in the High School Auditorium under the Parent-Teachers Association. Miss Margaret Pittman coaches a talented cast with Teltschik's Junior Orchestra providing music before and between acts. Tickets 25 cents for children 50 cents for adults, proceeds to the high school library fund. Proceeds support Near East Relief efforts.
