Representative R R Smith of Texas from Atascosa county withdraws from the senatorial race to fill Senator Bailey's seat. Known as Railroad Smith by friends, he had announced weeks earlier that he would enter the contest.
A light comedy titled A Wife Wanted plays at the opera house next Monday night inviting audiences to laughter with a witty onstage situation and ensemble cast.
The cotton growers of Wilson will hold a mass meeting at the court house this afternoon to organize a strong County Association and discuss the cotton situation. The meeting was called at Gov Colquitt’s suggestion. W Irvin and A Houck lead the effort.
The ladies of the Floresville Baptist church announce a cake sale on the Saturday before Xmas, December 23. They will offer a variety of cakes at very reasonable prices and urge everyone to buy their Christmas cakes from them. The sale will take place at Miss Lou Stroud's Millinery.
At a called bar meeting in the Atascosa and McMullen counties courthouse Judge E A Stevens was endorsed for the vacancy on the bench of the Court of Civil Appeals. A four member committee was formed to prepare resolutions reflecting the unanimous support.

Harold E Goodenough and Miss Irva Griffith were married Tuesday at 4 30 pm at the Methodist church in this city Rev A W Wilson performed the ceremony The church featured green and white decor mistletoe at the altar and Lohengrin along with violin accompaniment The bridal party included ushers J L Mitchell Ernest Lewis Esker Graham Claud Cox Cecil Phelps Vira Franklin John Spruce Susie Dennis Willie Sutton and Hiram Griffith The couple left for San Antonio after the ceremony and the Chronicle wishes them prosperity and happiness
