Sanama Santa arrives in Floresville to greet area children on Thursday December 15. Fruit bags will be given to kids arriving at the courthouse lawn downtown at 6 30 p.m. that evening. Floresville businesses will stay open until 6 p.m. Thursday and advertise in the notice.
The Floresville Chamber of Commerce sponsors a shopper convenience event featuring The Flower Basket, Maxine's Fashion Shop, Floresville Flower Shop, The Pizza Garden, The Sable Stable, and Candly-Herry Drug Chronicle-Journal.
The Rev Alfredo G Amaro announced he will become pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Del Rio Texas effective January 1 1989. He thanks Floresville readers for ten years as Calvary Baptist Church pastor and wishes everyone well while noting office closures for Christmas holidays. He cites Christian gospel message urging belief in Jesus for eternal life.
The Poth Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Christmas Lighting Contest on Wednesday December 21 with judging after lights must be on by 6 30 p m. Lea Popham urges residents to brighten Poth for the holidays. On Saturday January 14 at 10:00 a m at Poth High School Gym Knights of Columbus Council 6641 hosts a championship free throw for ages 10 to 14. Registration forms are in school offices or at the gym morning of the event. The contest encourages perseverance with the ABCs Anybody Can.
Santa Claus will visit Action Alley on Friday December 16 from 2 30 to 5 00 p m Parents are invited to bring their children and cameras to meet Santa and drop a Dulane wish list in exchange for candy.
Friday December 16 marks the last day to make a charitable donation. The notice urges donors to act now to ensure contributions count before the deadline at the organization’s address.
Path will close for New Year holidays December 31 January 1 and January 2. January 2 is a mandatory bank holiday.
Four Mighty Tiger Band members competed in All District and All Region tryouts on December 8 1988 against students from many schools. All District Band members include Bra Phos song me pou Alvarez and All Region selections Greg Vajdos and Daryl Moczygemba. Regional tryouts were set for December 15 1988 with a performance slated for January 28 1989 at Willeford High School. The Wilson County Sheltered Workshop board meeting is scheduled for December 20 at 6 pm and the Graytown Canada Verde V F D meeting was moved to the first Monday of each month at 7 30 pm with all active and inactive members advised.
Floresville VFD and EMS invite residents to donate blood on Saturday December 17 from 9 30 a m to 5 p m in the Fire Station Conference Room. Free cholesterol testing offered. Donors may join the blood bank 3 D Plan covering donor and eligible family for one year and blood processing fees. Participants must be 17 to 72 with parental consent for 17 year olds and meet health guidelines.
