Floresville High School Band members Mary Anne Woolsey, Jerry Teltschik, Harry Walker, and Richard Garza earned spots on the All-District Band at the December 9 Pleasanton tryouts. Jerry Teltschik and Harry Walker advanced to the All-Region Band in San Antonio on January 6, studying under Wilfred Teltschik, with Dick Wuppermann directing the band.

Area VII Leadership FFA Contest Held at San Marcos
The Area VII Leadership FFA contest at San Marcos College on December 2 saw the Senior Chapter Conducting team finish second of twelve, matching their district second place. Members were Richard Mutz, Larry Heimer, Ronny Mills, and John Cordes. The Radio Broadcasting team, led by Ralph Donaho, Andy McBride, and Raymond Schroeder, won district but did not place in the Area top five. The Land Judging team placed tenth with Alan Réaises, Slain Anay McBride, and Ralph Donaho. Other district placers not in top two included Junior Chapter Conducting and Quiz teams. Conducting members were Gregory Cordes, Felix Doege, Kenneth Ventur, Jeffrey Lothringer, Donna Brown, and David Conn. Quiz members were Raymond Richter, Rudy Vasquez, Mike Steele, and Robert Skarke.

Santa Claus Visits Floresville on Saturdays Through Christmas

Sister of Mrs Frank Huble Dies in Yoakum

Jaycee Project raises funds as Wando the sheep sold
Wanda known as Wando, a golden sheep popular in media, was sold last Thursday at Floresville Livestock Commission Co. Al Berry of Gonzales, Texas, accompanied the animal. Proceeds of 100 dollars support the Jaycee Project aiming to reopen a Gonzales center noted for polio treatment and capacity of 55 beds. Wilson County bidders included Clyde Holdcroft.
