Lytle Pirates Defeat Sutherland Springs In Bi-District Showdown

Lytle charges to a 44-19 win over Sutherland Springs in six man bi district action led by McIntire who scored five touchdowns. The Pirates, undefeated in District 2B, built a 20-7 halftime lead and widened it after the break with Spannegel, Holcombe, and Smukes starring on offense as the Frogs battled to the finish. Also noted is the death and funeral of John J. Schneider of Three Oaks, Wilson County, survived by his daughter Mrs. Pillimek and two sons, with services held in New Braunfels.

Funeral Thursday for Mrs Paulita Apolinar in Floresville

Mrs Paulita G Apolinar 59 died at home in Floresville at 8 30 am Wednesday December 12 after months of illness. Religious rites were held at Sacred Heart Church Thursday at 3 pm, Rev Drees officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart cemetery. She had lived in Floresville for years, coming from Eagle Pass. Survived by her husband two sons and three daughters.

J L Dennis Sells Floresville Filling Station

Floresville businessman J L Dennis sold his interest in the filling station to G O Davis, a veteran of over seven years service. Davis has taken charge while Dennis plans to move to the Hester river farm to raise livestock. Smith remains in the wholesale agency and will oversee Electrolux and Bendix appliances, along with Mobil Gas lines.

Robbins Brothers Take Over Lopez Station

R. M. Robbins and E. B. Robbins have taken over the Mike Lopez Service Station on the highway east of the courthouse. The Robbins brothers, veterans and sons of Mr and Mrs Ed Robbins of Floresville, are operating the station on a full 24 hour a day basis.

Seaman Second Class Pedro M Devora stationed in Hawaii

Seaman Second Class Pedro M Devora USNR is now stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Anastacio Devora of Route 1 McCoy Texas. He entered service in November 1944 and has served ten months.

Modern New Laundry For Floresville Soon

Abe Marks and wife Mrs Mae Bell Marks of Houston visited Floresville and closed on the Murray building to open a modern Help Yourself Laundry. New machinery and equipment have been ordered and the property is to be taken January 1. The Marks own a farm near Floresville.

Ezzell Dies After Illness at San Antonio Hospital

San Antonio Lake Ezzell 68, for many years a resident, died at a San Antonio hospital late Tuesday after several days of critical illness. Body shipped to Damon, Texas, for burial. Survived by widow Flora Martin of Floresville, two children Mrs. Sammie Pate and Clyde Ezzell, and three grandchildren.

Packed House Greet Floresville School Band Christmas Concert

The Floresville School Band will hold its annual Christmas Concert at the high school auditorium next Tuesday night December 18 at 7 30. Admission is free with a free will offering to fund new band uniforms, expected to total about 1500 dollars. The band has won statewide honors for two consecutive years, and the event aims to support the uniform fund as the community shares in the effort.

Constable Joe Donaho Tops Local Deer Contest

Deputy Wright and Deputy Bernhardt bragged of deer killed near the Chronicle Journal office. Donaho later claimed the Wright story, saying his own deer came from the Donaho lease, and that the hunt involved a 140 pound 10 pointer.
