A community Christmas tree plan was approved at a joint meeting aiming to include all churches and residents in caroling with a 1500 plus anticipated participants. A large Santa will distribute gifts to all children, regardless of race.
Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Lowrance, Floresville’s oldest resident, celebrated her 101st birthday at her daughter’s home on December 10. Born in Mississippi, she moved to Texas long ago and has lived in the Lone Star State 61 years. Despite poor weather and limited visitors, she received many gifts and remains cheerful, with a wide circle of friends.
James P. Sheehy a Wilson county pioneer and father of county tax assessor J. T. Sheehy died at Santa Rosa Infirmary San Antonio following pneumonia after an operation. Survived by widow Mary and numerous children, funeral at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with services and burial in San Antonio.
Wilson county records a week of fine rains that watered the area and sparked farmers to prepare to break ground. The precipitation was widespread, bringing promising conditions for crops and field work.
The Circuit Association ends its Boerne session with J. H. Daniels elected president. Next meeting set for Victoria to discuss schedules and fair dates for South Texas events.
The Floresville Methodist Church holds its first quarterly conference next Wednesday night at the parsonage for the new conference year. It combines the monthly social meeting of the board of stewards with the first quarterly business session led by presiding elder Dr. T F Sessions of the San Antonio district. Rev and Mrs Carter will host the board.
